“Shinshu Suwako” (Lake Suwa in Shinano Province) from Katsushika Hokusai's "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" (Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji).
It is believed to be a view of Suwa Lake from the present-day Shimo-Suwa area in Nagano Prefecture. A small boat floats on the lake, and in the middle of the lake is Suwa Takashima Castle, commonly called “Ukishiro” (floating castle), and beyond it is Mt. Fuji. The depth of the composition and the calmness of the lake can be felt.
